This guide looks at college through one lens: return on investment. That lens has limits.
The ROI lens is useful — especially when the numbers are big and the consequences last a decade. But it isn't the whole picture. College is also four years of reading hard books, arguing with smart people, building friendships that last 20 years, and figuring out who you are. None of that shows up in a salary column. Use the numbers here to avoid obviously bad financial decisions. Once the math makes sense, pick the school where you'll grow the most and actually enjoy being 19. That's a real return too.
